Re: Christmas overview for parents

Dear parents/carers,

With everything being very different this year, please find below further information concerning what is happening over the coming weeks and an overview with all the key dates. As always, this may be subject to change and/or alteration should we be impacted by further isolation periods. Where children may have to isolate in their bubbles we will endeavour to re-arrange any activities for their return.

Food donations

As in previous years, we would love our families to be able help us support our local community by providing hampers and food donations. This year we have teamed up with Monkseaton Medical Centre, The Whitley Bay Big Local and Vision for Education to get all our donations out to those most at need in the area.  We can’t do this without your support. So if you are able to help donate any non perishable good, toiletries, basic sudoku type game books etc. please bring to school on Thursday 10th or Friday 11th December. We will then make up hampers for Monkseaton Medical Centre to deliver on our behalf and take the rest of the donations to The Whitley Bay Big Local.  Anything you can donate will help someone so please give whatever you can.  Just like at harvest festival, we will have a place on these two days for the children to leave their donations just as they come in the gate.

Christmas dinner day

Please see below for your child’s Christmas dinner day.  Children are invited to come to school in their Christmas jumper on these days. Please also remember that all other children will only be able to order a grab bag during these 3 days (sandwich, fruit biscuit and a drink).

Non-uniform day

On Friday 4th December we are holding a non-uniform day for the children to donate chocolate to enable us to run a chocolate tombola for each class.

Christmas activities

Each staff member will inform parents of class specific events such as a film afternoon or Christmas classroom party. Please consider that we are still having to work under the same restrictions as we have all year but will endeavour to make the final few days as enjoyable and ‘festive’ as possible.

Christmas cards

If your child would like to send Christmas cards this year they will be able to bring them in from Monday 30th November. We respectfully request children just to write one class card rather than individual cards.  These will then be collected from the classes each morning and then left for 3 days before being handed out to the addressees. Please make sure that names and class numbers are clearly legible on the envelope of each card.

Christmas crafts / songs

Week beginning Monday 14th December staff are planning in crafts for the children and will be recording them singing Christmas songs which will be shared through Seesaw and Tapestry.
