Access to school next week

Dear parent/carer,

I apologise for bombarding you with communications but I am sure at this present time you can understand the need to ensure we can get information out to you as and when necessary.

To make sure we can support blended learning, with key worker children in school and others remote learning, it is important we collect accurate info to ensure we have the appropriate resources and staffing. To aid this, from today we request that parents book places in school on a weekly basis. Each Thursday we will email out a new form; the link for this week’s can be found below.

Booking link – Please complete before 12:00 noon on Friday

Critical workers and those classed as vulnerable

You will have seen in the news and social media lots of discussion I am sure around the Governments critical worker and those classed as vulnerable lists. These lists are, in my opinion, fairly broad and open to some interpretation. This was not the case in the previous lockdown and therefore has brought about some confusion and possible misinterpretation. I will say that each and every one of my staff and I believe that the best place for each and every child is to be in school being taught by their teachers. However, we must all appreciate that the country has been put into a national lockdown. Our Government has asked us to

’…stay at home. The single most important action we can all take is to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.’

We all want to keep ourselves, our families and our community safe. This is why we are asking you, even if you do qualify for key worker status to keep your children at home if you are able. The less movement and interaction we all have will help to reduce the transmission of the virus and therefore help get us through the other side of this pandemic.  Governors and I also must review the safety of our children and staff on site and with this in mind, there will be a need for us to limit the numbers we take into school.  Please consider these points when looking at access to school and only book the days when you are in real need.

The booking process will not be a case of first come first offered. If we are at the point where we are going over our capacity we may look to use the following criteria to retain safe numbers;

  • vulnerable children
  • children where both parents are key workers or children with single parents who are key workers.  NHS and education key workers to take priority if needed
  • Children where only one of two parents is a key worker. NHS and education key workers to take priority if needed

Please also note that Nursery will remain closed next week, further information will be sent to all Nursery parents by Tuesday 12th January.

Home learning

I hope that you have been able to access the last few days home learning tasks and the children are enjoying their activities. Please be assured, all learning being shared for home is the same as those in school are receiving.

I appreciate there has been some glitches for our Reception children on behalf of Tapestry and we are working a solution around this.

We still have some devices and sim cards available should families need them and also please contact school if there are any other issues.

As always, my staff and I are here to support and help the best that we can so please feel free to contact us through the usual means should you need to

Stay safe

Mr. T Jones
