Re: A message from the Governing Body

Dear Parents/Carers,

At the end of this most challenging school year, we thought it entirely appropriate to write to you with a perspective on the issues we have all faced.

Can we begin by thanking you for your unconditional and unequivocal support for our school. In these most trying circumstances, you have been patient, understanding and engaging, as we worked through the myriad of ever changing Government Guidance, to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our school community.

We accept and understand that some parents/carers may have been disappointed that your child was unable to return to school, but wish to assure you that every effort was made to get as many children as possible  through our school gates. A good example of this is the brief but welcome return of year 4 students to close their journey in our school before moving to pastures new.

Those children who we were able to welcome back into school were faced with new, very different learning and organisational scenarios. Without exception, every child showed great resilience, adaptability and to their eternal credit, got on with it, made it happen and were a joy to have in school. The feedback from all staff is that their behaviour and conduct was truly outstanding.

We consider this simply to be a testament to you as parents, the care of your children and the support for our school.

Since lockdown, the Governing Body has met virtually on four occasions, not only to progress regular business, but especially to respond to every scenario we faced with the scourge of Covid-19. The challenge and support to our hard working, high performing school Leadership Team, has enabled us to get to the point we are currently at. The Governing Body values enormously, the thought and care which has gone into the many home-school communications. In addition to the structured meetings, individual Governors and the Co. Chairs of Governors, have been in very regular dialogue with the Headteacher. Learning has also been at the heart of our discussions, and we appreciate enormously, the effort of all staff as they have risen to the challenge of different school teaching groups, providing home learning packages and additionally and especially catering for the needs of individual children.

September will bring new hope, new opportunities and of course, new children into our school. We thank the parents of year 4 children for their support in their children’s journey with us and wish them well and bon voyage for their futures.

It is also goodbye to Mrs Slade and Mr Mitchinson. Both have served our school with distinction, and we thank them for their service and contribution to the learning and development of our children.

In the forthcoming days, you will receive detailed arrangements about the beginning of the new school year. The proposals are robust and have been thoroughly scrutinised, amended and approved by the Governing Body.

In these unprecedented times, we wish to thank our Headteacher, Senior Leadership team and every member of our staff for their considerable efforts. It is the unanimous view of the Governing Body that they have had an exceptional year with outstanding performance.

Finally, thank you for your support, have a safe summer and we look forward to September.

Our very best wishes, and thanks
